Welcome Citizens

Secretary Reuben F. Young
Reuben F. Young
Secretary

The Department of Crime Control and Public Safety and its 10 divisions serve as the state's chief protector and defender of the general public.

Whether the subject is coordinating the state's homeland security efforts, helping hurricane victims recover from disaster, making the highways safe for the motoring public, defending the nation against foreign enemies, ensuring kids don't buy alcohol or tobacco, providing assistance to local government agencies, helping crime victims, fighting fires, or responding to any of the number of requests for our services, CCPS always answers the call.

The State of North Carolina remains vigilant in its efforts to protect the safety and security of all citizens. However, the most important step any citizen can take is to put together an emergency preparedness kit and have it ready to go if a hurricane, flood, winter storm or act of terrorism occurs. You can find a list of the recommended items for your own kit in the Family Preparedness section.

I hope you find this web site useful and that you take the safety tips to heart.
